If you remember, LIV Golf was the last thing Brooks Koepka wanted to talk about heading into the US Open last week.

In fact, Koepka went on a contentious rant against reporters who insinuated he was thinking about leaving the PGA for the Saudi-backed league, saying they were taking away from the great US Open Tournament and that he hadn’t put any thought into LIV yet.

So when it was announced that Brooks Koepka would, in fact, be joining LIV Golf earlier today, many pointed at the US Open interview when trashing the longtime golfer.

So far, Brooks Koepka has not commented on his LIV Golf move, but given his elongated slump on the PGA Tour, it’s not wholly surprising that he’s jumping ship for the money at this juncture.

Interestingly enough, though, Koepka still has not pulled out of the PGA Tour’s Travelers Open this weekend, so he could still technically compete before his LIV Golf news becomes official.

Either way, it’s now clear that Brooks Koepka’s US Open tirade was all just a cover for the fact that he already had his mind made up that he was going to be joining LIV Golf.
