Saint Peter’s head coach Shaheen Holloway became a fan-favorite throughout March Madness.

While pushing his team to massive upset wins, Holloway’s Peacocks became the first 15 seed ever to reach the Elite Eight. And while their dream run came to an end against North Carolina last weekend, nobody will forget what the Cinderella team was able to accomplish.

And now, Shaheen Holloway is climbing the coaching ranks.

It was announced today (just a few days after their loss) that the young coach was accepting a position to become the next head coach of Seton Hall.

It was widely assumed that Shaheen Holloway was the man for the Seton Hall job even before the Saint Peter’s loss, and after the game he brushed off those reports.

“I’m not worried about that right now,” he said to ESPN. “I’m worried about those 15 young men whose hearts are broken and really down. It’s my job as their leader to cheer them up, make sure they understand what they did the last two weeks. And like I said, we’re going to walk out of here the same way we walked in here, with our head up.”

Now that the dust has settled, Shaheen Holloway feels he can accept the position at a true basketball school.

Definitely well deserved, we’ll all be rooting for him.
