Nick Saban Tries To Walk Back His Controversial Comments Again

Alabama head football coach Nick Saban gave a hilariously on-brand answer when asked when he was going to start thinking out retirement

The Nick Saban-Jimbo Fisher beef is on in the SEC.

After Saban made some comments about how they ‘buy’ players at College Station, the Texas A&M coach went on an impassioned rant about how Saban acts like he’s “god” despite his checkered past.

“It’s despicable that he can take shots at 17-year-old kids and their families. … We never bought anyone. No rules were broken,” Fisher said in part of his rant.

Almost immediately, Nick Saban tried to clarify his comments about the way Jimbo Fisher operates.

On Saturday, Nick Saban made an appearance on ESPN’s alternate broadcast for the PGA Championship. He was, of course, asked about the whole Jimbo Fisher situation by Joe Buck and Michael Collins.

Via On3Sports:

“Well I think the problem with all of that is that there isn’t parity, and it’s not going to create competitive balance,” Saban said. “The spirit of competition and the interest that you have is that the more parity there is, the more balance there is, the more interest there is because there’s a lot of close games and they come down to the wire. I think that’s what people enjoy and that’s what people want to see. So some kind of way – and I don’t have the solution to the problem – we have to create that some kind of way in college athletics.”

For now, Nick Saban appears to be taking the high road after Jimbo Fisher came after him. But when push comes to shove, he’ll likely have the game against Texas A&M circled on his calendar for next season.

In the end, we’re all pretty much expecting the Crimson Tide to do what they normally do, and dominate the Aggies from start to finish.

It would be pretty cool to see Jimbo Fisher have his moment against Nick Saban after all this, though.
