The MLB world is buzzing today about a marquee pitching matchup going down on the South Side of Chicago.

Two playoff contenders — the Astros and White Sox — are rolling out their respective aces, Dylan Cease and Justin Verlander.

Being as both hard throwing right-handers are currently in the midst of a battle for AL Cy Young, the matchup carries added weight.

Odds For Ryan Cease Vs. Justin Verlander

With the game has being so highly hyped, bettors are flocking to pick a side.

Check out the full odds of the game and Cy Young below, Per Draftkings:

Before the pitching matchup, neither Dyan Cease or Justin Verlander shied away from the Cy Young talk.

“I try not to fixate on it,” Cease said to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers. “We have a lot of other things going on but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t on my mind.

“Depending on the results [of the game], it could change things up but there’s still so much season left I don’t think whoever does better tomorrow is the winner. It’s definitely important.”

When speaking about the matchup, Justin Verlander had high praise for Dylan Cease, even though the young White Sox ace was snubbed from making an All-Star appearance this season.

“Cy Young is much more important than All-Star, in the scheme of things,” Verlander said. “I know his stuff is tremendous. It seems like he’s put it all together this year.”

I think Astros manager Dusty Baker put it best when talking about the general excitement around a pitching matchup of this magnitude.

“This is like when I was a kid,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said Monday afternoon. “[Sandy] Koufax and Juan Marichal, Don Drysdale and Gaylord Perry, Ferguson Jenkins and Bob Gibson. … I’m going to have to be careful and make sure I don’t spectate … because if I was at home, I’d get me a bowl of popcorn and some beer and the only time I would leave is if there was a commercial or in between innings. That’s a classic good one.”
