Hot Mic Catches Tennis Announcer Swearing After Nasty Alexander Zverev Injury

It appeared that Alexander Zverev would be locked in a long match with Rafael Nadal at the French Open semifinals today. But on the point that would have took the second set into a tiebreak, disaster occurred for Zverev.

In a nasty image, the young star got stuck in the Roland Garros clay, suffering a terrible ankle roll that would keep him out of the match.

When the Tennis Channel broadcast came back from break, announcer Jim Courier didn’t realize the live broadcast was back when muttering “god damnit” under his breath.

Honestly, Jim Courier was all of us watching the Alexander Zverev injury.

It’s terrible to see a big match end that way, especially when it looked like we might have had an instant classic on our hands. And even Rafael Nadal had to feel for Zverev.

Alexander Zverev’s brother thanked Rafael Nadal for the class he showed following the brutal injury.

“Rafa is a special person,” Mischa Zverev told Eurosport. “He can feel it and he understands it. It helps Sascha when Rafa talks to him.”

In the end, Rafael Nadal will be playing for his 22nd major victory at the tournament where he dominated for so many years. But it hurts to see an injury of the magnitude of Alexander Zverev’s occur at such a terrible time.

The best way to sum it up? “God damnit”.
