Twitter Erupted Over Chargers Timeout That Possibly Cost Them Playoff Spot

Week 18 was a big one, with plenty on the line.

The Las Vegas Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers found themselves in a “win and you’re in” scenario. They battled through regulation with the Las Vegas Raiders blowing a two-touchdown lead. Overtime led to the trading of field goals, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

The Raiders had the ball in the final two minutes and appeared to be content with the decision to run the clock out when Chargers coach Brandon Staley confusingly called a time out. The Raiders ended up making it to the line to gain, and were then able to kick the game winning field goal as a result.

Following the game, Derek Carr spoke on the NBC broadcast and explained that the timeout “definitely did” change the Raiders strategy.

So why did Staley call that timeout?

Twitter went in:

It’s gonna be a long offseason for Staley and the Chargers.
