Tennessee Titans and Country Singer Honey County Team-Up For Breast Cancer Awareness

Another game against the Tennessee Titans results in yet another loss for the Indianapolis Colts, but this time around, there was a message greater than the game in the atmosphere of over 65,000 fans at Nissan Stadium.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month the Titans honored survivors of the terrible disease and those who have lost loved ones to it before and during the game. Nashville-based country star Honey County, who sang the National Anthem, has a mother who is a breast cancer survivor and grandmother who was a two-time survivor as well.

“Out of all the anthems I’ve had the honor of singing this one was the most special. Standing with breast cancer survivors (and knowing my mom was watching from the audience) was empowering and emotional. I’m grateful to the Titans, NFL and the American Cancer Society for having me out to sing the anthem for their Crucial Catch game!” Honey tells us in an exclusive comment.

Wearing all-pink Titans jerseys, Honey County and other breast cancer survivors took the field pre-game alongside members of the US military to pay tribute to all those affected. The “Crucial Catch: Intercept Cancer” initiative has happened for the last 14 years, where the NFL and American Cancer Society have teamed up to support the fight against cancer through the initiative; The initiative addresses early detection and risk reduction efforts across multiple types of cancers.

Players such as Caleb Farley played for his mom, who passed away after battling breast and bone cancers. Ryan Tannehill played for his grandmother, Marge, who battled breast cancer. David Long Jr. played for his aunt, Corrie, who battled pancreatic cancer. Amani Hooker played for his sister, Chelsia, who battled Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. And across the team’s roster, coaching staff, and front office, the entire team of Titans brought focus on those close to them who have been impacted by cancer.

The Titans – with love and emotion in their hearts – beat the Colts 19-10.
