Betting Company Calls For Investigation Into Tom Brady Un-Retiring

Tom Brady dropped a bomb on the sports world this past Sunday when he announced that after just a few weeks of living the retired life, he had changed his mind.

The GOAT took to social media to announce that he was returning to the Buccaneers for (at least) one more season.

But after the move, there have been rumbling that gamblers had insider information that Tom Brady was returning.

Specifically, Westgate SuperBook vice president Jay Kornegay said he believes several bettors placed some wagers indicating that they has knowledge of Brady’s return prior to the announcement.

“There’s not a doubt in my mind that they knew he was coming back when they placed those wagers on Thursday,” Kornegay said, via Pro Football Talk.

“And these were not casual bettors. They would be categorized as educated bettors. It wasn’t a guy with a Tom Brady jersey at the counter. It was a player that we would describe as sharp. With that type of play and the announcement we heard [Sunday] that he was unretiring, there was information that was shared prior to his official announcement.”

One bettor place a sizable bet on the Bucs to win the NFC and Super Bowl last Thursday — when the team’s odds were listed at 30-1 and 60-1, respectively. Now, Tampa’s odds to win the championship dropped drastically to 25-1.

“There is no doubt in my mind that information leaked sometime in the middle of last week,” Kornegay added. “This is concerning. I don’t think I’ve ever said the NFL really needs to investigate something.

“But this is something they need to look into and how it got out, because there are many books that took some sizable wagers in the middle of last week.”

So far, Roger Goodell has not launched an investigation into the possibility of insider information getting leaked from Tom Brady’s camp. But it certainly wouldn’t be the first time the NFL has come after TB12.
