Rock Tweet Says XFL Plans to Return in 2022

Can you smell what The Rock is cooking in 2022?

The XFL won’t be on the schedule in the upcoming  year the league announced Thursday, and is now targeting a return in the spring of 2022.

Dwayne Johnson tweeted the news Thursday morning, and the league followed with an official announcement.

XFL president and chief operating officer Jeffrey Pollack said in a statement, the league did not want to rush its return.

“For the love of football and for the safety of our players and fans, we’ll be back on the field in 2022,” Pollack said. “The opportunity in front of us, with our new ownership, is simply too big to rush back. We want to do this properly with care and thought for everyone who loves football, especially our players, coaches, partners and fans.”
