Petition Started To Rename Football Stadium After High Schooler Tate Myre After The Linebacker Sacrificed His Life Trying To Disarm School Shooter

Among the three students tragically shot dead during the most recent school shooting in Oxford, Mich. was Tate Myre, a linebacker on the football team who was being recruited to some teams in the area.

According to reports, Myre sprung into action when he heard there was an active shooter at his high school, sacrificing his life for his fellow peers.

Tate Myre had been traveling around to some schools about potentially playing college football. And most recently stopped at Tulane for a visit – just days before the shooting.

Shortly after Tate Myre’s story hit the internet, a petition was set up to rename Oxford high School’s football stadium after the fallen hero.

So far, the petition already has had over 70,000 people sign it.

“On Tuesday 11/30, at around 1pm there was an active shooter in Oxford High School who killed 3 people and injured many more one of the students was killed in an attempt to disarm the shooter, this student is Tate Myre, Tate is not just a hero to his fellow students at Oxford high school but a legend, his act of bravery should be remembered forever and passed down through generations, he put his life in danger to try and help the thousands of other students at Oxford High School”
