Pete Carroll Had The Most Old-Timer Response To The DK Metcalf-Shannon Sharpe Twitter feud

Pete Carroll clearly doesn’t get the whole “Twitter” thing, and he definitely doesn’t understand how people can fight on the web all the time.

Just this week, Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf exchanged in a social media war-of-words with FS1’s Shannon Sharpe.

When the feud called for Sharpe telling Metcalf to check his stats, the Seattle receiver backed down.

Pete Carroll was asked about the whole online feud this week, and his couldn’t understand why anyone would engage in a feud with another person on the web.

“In general, I don’t know why anybody would want to communicate that way openly. You can always call people and talk to them and work things out a lot more efficiently. We have always tried to discourage our guys from communicating in that fashion. For the most part, guys are really good at it now. Guys used to use Twitter like they were sending a text. They figured it out, and DK has a big awareness. I don’t know how that one went kind of wherever. If you watch DK, you will always see him come around, he will always come around to clear thinking, and he’s a really bright kid.”

Pete Carroll couldn’t have made it clearer with his answer that he doesn’t spend too much of his time on social media, or the internet at all.

Literally 90% of Twitter is just people arguing with each other – just like Shannon Sharpe and DK Metcalf got into this week.

Perhaps the world would be a better place if we all took Pete Carroll’s advice and just called people with our telephones if we have a problem. But I don’t see that scenario coming to fruition with this generation.
