And on Friday morning, it was made official.

The Fighting Irish were wrapping up their scheduled workout on Friday when they got a surprise message from one of their coaches that they were meeting their next head coach.

When Marcus Freeman walked into the room, the players commenced for a chill-inducing scene.

At 35-years-old Marcus Freeman will now become one of the youngest head coaches in the entire country, in one of the most high-profile gigs.

Luckily for him, Brian Kelly already has a foundation in place. And he won’t have to build anything from the ground up.

Notre Dame currently sits as the sixth ranked team in the nation, and will await the results of this weekend’s conference championship games to see if they can overtake some teams in front of them to earn a trip back to the College Football Playoff.

What a story that would be if Marcus Freeman’s first game on the job is against Georgia with a trip to the National Championship on the line…
