NFL Insider Has Telling Comments on Trade Market For Jimmy Garoppolo

Jimmy Garoppolo still has no biters on the trade market.

Now, the Commanders have Carson Wentz, the Steelers chose Mitchell Trubisky, Tampa Bay has Tom Brady coming back, and the Broncos were able to land Russell Wilson in a blockbuster.

Through all of that, Jimmy G has been the guy passed up on. And not just that, but now, the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes likely has to come to its conclusion before anyone settles on Garoppolo.

To make matters worse, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright is now reporting that the market has “cratered” for Jimmy Garoppolo — and the Niners would be lucky to get a Day 3 draft pick for the veteran quarterback’s services.

“The market on [Garoppolo] has cratered,” Allbright said Tuesday on 95.7 The Game, via 49ers Web Zone. “I don’t think the Colts are in on him at all. I think it’s going to be Mariota. I think the shoulder surgery thing is just adding salt to the wound there, and it’s just a bad situation.

“The Niners were hoping to get a pair of twos [for] him, and at this point, they’d be lucky to get a day-three pick [for] him.”

Allbright would go on to say that the Niners likely managed the whole Jimmy Garoppolo situation wrong by letting everyone in on their plans to hand over the reigns to Trey Lance next season.

“I think what they’ve done is they just overplayed their hand, in the end. Everybody knew what was coming,” Allbright added.

“They knew he was going to be available at the end of the year, so they went out and made their plans and their contingency plans, and it wound up you get around the circle, and he’s the only one without a chair left to sit in.”

Unless the 49ers lower their asking price (by a lot), they may be stuck with Jimmy Garoppolo on their roster until someone loses their quarterback due to injury next season.

Not the worst problem to have…
