NBA Investigating Alleged Jerry West and Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard Signing Infractions

Jerry West and the Los Angeles Clippers may be in some real trouble with the league. The NBA launched an investigation into the Clippers recruitment of Kawhi Leonard today. The investigation comes after a man named Johnny Wilkes filed a lawsuit against West. Wilkes claims that West told him he would pay him $2.5 Million to help the Clippers sign Kawhi Leonard.

In Wilkes’ lawsuit, he claims that the Los Angeles Clippers used his close ties with Kawhi Leonard and Kawhi’s uncle, Dennis Robertson. Wilkes even claims that he set up a meeting with West and Kawhi’s uncle. If these allegations are found to be true, it would be a violation of NBA policy, and the Clippers would likely face a large penalty. West claims that Wilkes’s story is hogwash. “I deny engaging in any improper conduct in connection with the signing of Kawhi Leonard,” West says via TMZ.

This will be Kawhi Leonard’s second year with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he’ll have a new head coach in Tyronn Lue. The Clippers are pretty much championship-or-bust, as they have invested a lot of money in superstars Leonard and Paul George. They are currently behind only the lakers on list of favorites to win the NBA Championship.

We’ll see if the NBA finds Jerry West and the Los Angeles Clippers guilty of violating league rules when they went after Kawhi Leonard. Stay tuned.
