As trainers came onto the ice, Tavares was clearly in rough shape, and had to be stretchered off. Luckily, he was able to give a thumbs up as he was heading to the locker room.

After he was taken off the ice, the Maple Leafs confirmed that John Tavares was taken to a nearby hospital.

We’ll keep looking for updates on John Tavares. For now, the entire hockey community can only hope that he’s alright after one of the scariest injuries we’ve seen in a long time.
