Jim Boeheim Slams ACC For Suspending His Son, Buddy

Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orange put up a tough fight today in their game against Duke. But when push came to shove, the Blue Devils proved to be too much down the stretch. In the ACC Tournaments’s second round game, Duke ended up winning 88-79.

Syracuse was playing without Jim Boeheim’s son, Buddy Boeheim, after he was suspended for throwing a punch at a Florida State player on Wednesday.

Check out the play in question here:

Before the game, the Syracuse head coach slammed the ACC over their decision to suspend Buddy Boeheim for their game against Duke.

Per Bro Bible:

“I think if the officials would’ve called the play properly … then he would’ve been out of the game and we were up 18. We would’ve won the game, so now he’d be playing today. They would never have punished him for another game, no matter what they say. They gave the maximum penalty to the kid that deserves better and we’ll just go out and do the best we can. That’s all we can do at this stage. I think it’s disappointing for the league. I think it’s a disappointing call and I don’t think it’s a call that had to be made.”

After the game against Florida State, Jim Boeheim claimed he thought his son was just trying to get back up the court.

“The kid (Wilkes) pushed him twice and he swung around and hit him,” Jim Boeheim said. “I think it was inadvertent, but that’s okay.”

Unfortunately, Buddy Boeheim had to spend the last game of his Syracuse career on the bench. And now The Orange will have to set their sights on next season.
