Erin Andrews Gets Honest When Speaking On The Infamous Richard Sherman ‘Crabtree’ Interview From Eight Years Ago Today

NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews has done some memorable interviews in the past. But perhaps nothing was as iconic as the Richard Sherman interview. Yeah, the one when he called out 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree.

Right when Richard Sherman got animated, you could see the FOX camera crew turn the view from the Erin Andrews interview to other players on the Seahawks. And even though it appeared Andrews was trying to keep the interview going, the feed went back to play-by-play man Joe Buck after just a couple of questions.

On the eight year anniversary (hard to believe) of the infamous interview, Andrews admitted that she thinks FOX “panicked” a bit even though Sherman wasn’t being vulgar.

“I was so mad at myself. There were so many different things I could’ve gone, and yeah, I knew that it was gonna end up that way that I was just so pissed,” Andrews said on The Ringer’s “10 Questions With Kyle Brandt”. “I love Richard, I loved him before that happened. I was just so mad because I was like, ‘This is the coolest moment.’ As I said, we were in a meeting with him the day before. he told us how much he did not like [Michael] Crabtree. So I knew he was talking about him but I knew America didn’t know. And I actually thought, ‘People are going to think he’s freaking yelling at me.’ And he’s not, he’s the man.”

“I’m so bummed because I wanted to get a third question, he walked away. I think FOX panicked a little bit because they thought he cussed, he didn’t. I wish we could do it over, but we can’t.”

I honestly think Erin Andrews did a fine job on the infamous Richard Sherman interview. And I think we all wish FOX could have let her keep going until the Seahawks corner was done ranting. But we got the great soundbite, nonetheless.

Sherman remains in the league, and teamed up with Tom Brady’s Bucs later in the season. But unfortunately, he endured an injury, and will not be with the team for their playoff run.

Needless to say, Richard Sherman, Erin Andrews, and even Michael Crabtree will be remembered for the great interview from eight years ago.
