Chicago Bears Safety Eddie Jackson Slams Fans Over ‘Fire Nagy’ Chants

Eddie Jackson has Matt Nagy’s back. At least for the time being.

The outspoken safety was recently asked about the outpouring of fans chanting “fire Nagy” all over the city (Bulls games, Bears games, wrestling events, etc.), and he didn’t hold back.

“We hate it, honestly,” Jackson said via NBC Sports Chicago. “The fans gotta understand that doesn’t help anything. Y’all want us to play better, do better, that’s not helping when you all sitting up there and chanting that.

“I get it. The frustration, long-time Bears fans have been going through this for a long, long time, so I understand it, but it’s not helping the situation. I feel like it’s just making it worse.”

Chicago Bears fans were quick to remind Eddie Jackson that he hasn’t performed up to his massive contract extension that he received following a career year in 2018.

In Eddie Jackson’s defense, the quote about the Matt Nagy chant was a little longer. And if you read the whole thing, some context gives perspective that he wasn’t necessarily slamming the fans as much as it appeared in the viral sentence.

Reports started to surface last week that Matt Nagy was going to be fired after the game against the Lions. But after a whole media firestorm of a week in Chicago, ownership held firm that there was no merit to the report.

However, if Nagy doesn’t somehow right the ship for the remainder fo the season, he’ll likely be gone once the year concludes.

Eddie Jackson and the Bears are set to take on a tall task this week with Kyler Murray and the first place Cardinals coming to town on Sunday.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, the ‘fire Nagy’ chants are sure to be out if the team doesn’t somehow pull off the upset.
