Eagles Are Reportedly Out of the Deshaun Watson Sweepstakes

Deshaun Watson won’t be flying with the Eagles anytime soon.

This week analyst and former NFL quarterback,  Chris Simms, says he’s been hearing the Philadelphia Eagles are still interested, because they’re not sold on second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts. There were reports Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has even given the greenlight to try and trade for Watson.

“Philadelphia is in that mix for the Deshaun Watson thing,” Simms said on Pro Football Talk. “That’s a real thing from everything that I know. The owner (Jeffrey Lurie) has given them the green light as far as (general manager) Howie Roseman and company to make that deal if it’s right.”

Now it looks as if there’s no deal in place, and the Eagles are no longer in the running.

Jay Glazer tweeted about the report:

Not sure which team would be desperate to trade for all Watson’s legal troubles.

I’d understand wanting him once his sexual assault cases get settled.
