Dwight Howard Put On Blast By NBA Fans For Saying He “Won’t Play For Free”

Some people are just impossible to satisfy, even when they are winning. Dwight Howard, who made $2.4 million with the Lakers, is a free agent and is unhappy with his paycheck. Howard claims that he “won’t play for free anymore.” Last I checked, playing for millions of dollars a year isn’t volunteering, but that’s just me. NBA fans everywhere were quick to call out Dwight Howard for his absurd statement. See what Howard had to say below.

“I would love to come back and play for the Lakers again,” said the 34-year-old free agent. “Hopefully, this year, they give me a contract; that’s the biggest thing. I don’t want to play for free anymore. This year, it was like, ‘Okay, I’ll do whatever.’ But I think I’ve earned… a contract.”

To put things in perspective, Dwight Howard averaged only 18.9 minutes a game and put up 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds. Those are all career lows for Howard, yet somehow he still believes he is being underpaid. Beats me.

NBA fans were quick to put Dwight Howard on blast.

Let us not forget, Dwight Howard also got paid $3.039 million last year by the Memphis Grizzlies and he didn’t play a second for them the entire season. If that’s playing for free sign me up. I can guarantee there are people everywhere who would be willing to take home three million dollars from an NBA organization and not have to step foot on the floor for them.

Dwight Howard won an NBA Championship with the Lakers and somehow he still can’t win. Come on man; get real. In this league, you get what you deserve. If the Lakers want to resign you or someone else wants to pick you up it will happen. Regardless, you ain’t playing for free. That’s for damn sure.
