Five Teams Reportedly In Pursuit Of Damian Lillard

When it was reported last week that superstar Damian Lillard was close to requesting to be traded from the Portland Trail Blazers, many fans flocked to social media to try and build an argument for why their team should make a run at the talented point guard.

But after the dust has settled, it appears that just five teams ares still aggressively pursuing Lillard.

According to The Ringer’s Kevin O’ Connor, the Heat, Kings, Knicks, Rockets, and Sixers are still making calls to Portland for Damian Lillard.

During an interview with Team USA ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, Damian Lillard denied the report that he was close to asking to be traded away from the Portland Trail Blazers.

However, he also re-iterated that he wants to win. And he doesn’t think the Blazers are a championship level team as they are currently constructed.

“I think if you look at our team as it is, going into next season,” Lillard said Friday, “I don’t see how you can say ‘This is a championship team, it just needed a new coach,’ when we just lost in the first round to a team that was hurt.”

Damian Lillard is one of the most loyal stars we’ve seen come through the NBA in a very long time. He simply wants to win in Portland.

But if the team fails to adequately build a winner around him, I expect we’ll be hearing rumors about his availability during next season.

Is this the beginning of the end for Dame Time in Portland?
