Dolphins GM Chris Grier Offers Strange Response To Tua Tagovailoa Question

The Miami Dolphins appear to be moving forward with Tua Tagovailoa as their franchise quarterback.

After reportedly kicking the tires on a Deshaun Watson trade last season, the fins made it clear that they were no longer in the market for a quarterback.

However, when speaking about Tua Tagovailoa during the Scouting Combine this week, Dolphins GM Chris Grier gave a roundabout answer to the question of wether or not the young QB can be “elite”.

“I can’t say he can’t be,” Grier replied.

Despite Chris Grier’s answer, newly-hired head coach Mike McDaniel has made it clear that he can’t wait to work with Tua Tagovailoa.

“I’m really excited moving forward because the guy has some skills that I think are untapped,” he said. “I think it’s important that you empower the quarterback with the rest of the players around him and the scheme you bring forth. So, I think his best days are in front of him. And that’s a really cool piece of the process to be part of as a coach.”

While Chris Grier and the Dolphins’ brass will hope Mike McDaniel can bring the best out of Tua Tagovailoa, it’s hard to really envision the guy as a top-five quarterback in the NFL.
