Bob Boone, Father Of Aaron Boone, Resigning From Washington Nationals Job Over Vaccine Mandate

Bob Boone won’t be forced into taking any vaccine.

The former MLB star and father to Yankees manager Aaron Boone has been working with the Washington Nationals since 2004 and was upgrading to VP in 2015. But after the team announced that they would be mandating the COVID vaccine for all of their employees, Boone turned in his resignation.

While Bob Boone may be an anti-vaxxer, Aaron Boone announced earlier in the year that he was fully vaccinated against the virus.

The Nationals became one of the first professional sports organizations to implement a vaccine mandate when they announced the new rule on Aug. 12. They gave employees until Aug. 26 to provide proof of the vaccine, and clearly Bob Boone could not do so.

“As a company, we have a responsibility to do everything we can to keep one another safe and felt that mandating vaccines was the absolute right thing to do for our employees and our community,” the Nationals said in a statement on Friday.

It’s unclear if Bob Boone has any intention of working in Major League Baseball in the future.
