TJ Watt Injury: Superstar Steelers Linebacker Suffers Knee Injury During Preseason Game Sunday

The worst possible case scenario may have occurred for the Pittsburgh Steelers during their preseason game today: suffering an injury to their best player, TJ Watt.

During the game against the Lions on Sunday, Watt appeared to injure himself in the knee during an attempted rush. He would immediately come out of the game.

Check out the play below:

TJ Watt was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the game.

“Steelers have ruled out TJ Watt for remainder of today’s game vs. Detroit due to a knee injury,” ESPN insider Adam Schefter tweeted out shortly after the injury occurred.

Ahead of the season, TJ Watt spoke on what it means for him to take on a leadership role in the Steelers organization.

“As a Pittsburgh Steeler defender, it’s just that much more important for us to take pride in everyone that came before us and uphold the fact that the standard is the standard,” Watt said during a lunch break this week. “At the end of the day, when the back is against the wall, when it’s a two-minute drill, when the game is on the line, we want to be on the field. That’s the mentality we have to have to be a hard-nosed defense, and that’s why we’re here to build that type of tradition, that type of standard for the season.”

We’ll await any more word on a TJ Watt injury. And hopefully he won’t have to miss any time in the regular season.
