Sammy Watkins Throws Patrick Mahomes Right Under the Bus When Hyping up Aaron Rodgers Ahead of the Season

It’s safe to say that Sammy Watkins is enjoying playing with Aaron Rodgers more than with Patrick Mahomes from 2018-2020.

Ahead of his first season with the Packers, Watkins expectedly had some high praise for Rodgers. But what may come as a surprise to many is that the veteran receiver called out Mahomes during his rant.

“Patrick Mahomes is incredibly good, but A-Rod is on a whole other level,” Watkins said about the different between Rodgers and Mahomes via PFT.

During his three season with Kansas City, Sammy Watkins definitely took a backseat to Mahomes’ other weapons. His most productive year with KC came in 2019, when he hauled in 53 catches for 673 yards and three touchdowns. Since then, he has only had 27 and 37 respectively while battling injuries for the past two seasons.

Still, after losing Davante Adams in the offseason, Aaron Rodgers has to be happy to have Sammy Watkins aboard.

“I feel like I have stacked good days on top of good days, but at the same time, I’m not there,” Watkins said of his Training Camp performance via the Packers team website. “I can’t get complacent. I’ve still got to be humble, I’ve still got to understand that I’m not there mentally.

“Yeah, I can go out there and catch a ton of balls, but it’s not about that. It’s about doing the little things, the details the right way to where if a critical situation comes up, I’m going to do it right and make that play.”

It seems like Sammy Watkins knows he has to earn the respect of Aaron Rodgers. But he should probably think twice before giving Patrick Mahomes bulletin-board type material.
