Jets Quarterback Joe Flacco Goes Viral After Throwing Brutal Interception During Preseason Action Sunday

The New York Jets seem to be stuck with Joe Flacco at quarterback for the time being.

Following the injury to Zach Wilson, it appears as though Flacco will get the chance to face off against his former team, the Ravens, for Week 1 of the regular season. But if Sunday’s preseason game is a sign of things to come for Flacco, Jets fans might be in for a tough experience.

In the preseason game against the Giants, Flacco went viral for all the wrong reasons. After rolling out to his right on a 3rd & 3 situation, Flacco tossed the football right into the lap of a Giants linebacker who was dropping into coverage on the play.

It would results in a disgusting pick six against the veteran quarterback.

Despite the play, Jets head coach Robert Saleh has all the confidence in the world in Joe Flacco.

The energetic coach is so in on Flacco, that he thinks the veteran should be a starter somewhere in the league heading into the season.

“He could start in this league. I believe that,” Saleh said when asked about having an experienced backup QB. “Sometimes, this league has a tendency to pigeonhole people or put labels on people, and their opportunities get limited. But Joe Flacco is a starting quarterback in this league. He’s really, really talented.”

On the appearance Sunday, Flacco went 7/12 for just 76 yards and the interception. Still, he’s confident heading into the season.

“The fact that I’m a backup — trust me — I’m not the happiest man in the world about that,” Flacco said. “But it is what it is. I’m only in so much control of that. I’m on the Jets. Zach is the starting quarterback, and so all I can do is keep my head down and work and have a good attitude about it. And that’s what I’m doing. I’m going to enjoy playing, enjoy helping him out.”
