Report: NFL Considering Lesser Punishment For Deshaun Watson

For the last few weeks, it has started to look more and more likely that Deshaun Watson will now be allowed to play in the NFL next season.

Recently, it was reported that the NFL is currently positioned to hand down an ‘indefinite’ suspension — which would keep the QB out for the season.

But today, a new report claims the NFL could be convinced down to a lesser 6-8 week suspension for Deshaun Watson.

From Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press: “I’m also told the NFL, despite insisting on indefinite suspension, wants to avoid the appeals process — source said ‘a terrible situation for everyone involved’ — so league is more likely to abide by Sue Robinson’s ruling IF she came back with 6-8 games.”

Deshaun Watson’s current hearing could drag on to Friday.

“Deshaun Watson’s disciplinary hearing in front of Sue L. Robinson adjourned on Tuesday evening, but will resume Wednesday and could last at least another day or two, a source told cleveland.com,” Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot said.

It’s not really a matter of if but rather how long Deshaun Watson’s suspension will be at this point. And we’ll continue to track for updates.
