Russell Westbrook’s Social Media Activity Proves He’s Done With Lakers

After taking a huge bulk of the blame for the Lakers’ disastrous season, it was widely assumed that both parties would look to move on following the season.

But during his end-of-season presser, Westbrook maintained that he expects to be back in LA come next season.

“I mean, that’s the plan. But nothing is promised,” he said at the time. “Yes, we want to be able to see what that looks like, what that entails over the course of an 82-game season. But we’re not sure if that’s guaranteed, either. So I just hope that we have a chance to be able to do something.”

Now, though, it appears that Russell Westbrook is planning for a future elsewhere.

This week, the dynamic point guard swiped everything Lakers from his Instagram page.

After the Lakers decided to take on the massive contract of Russell Westbrook instead of a more logical plan last offseason, the fit just didn’t work.

Westbrook’s style didn’t mesh with LeBron James, and the point guard ended up having his worst season statistically in a long time. On the year, Westbrook averaged 18.5 PPG, but only shot 44% from the field and under 30% from three point range. He also suffered from terrible turnover problems in crucial moments of games.

Sure, it’s incredibly unfair to pin the entire Lakers failure on Russell Westbrook. But still, you would think it makes more sense for both sides to go their separate ways.
