One Team Has ‘Viable’ Package To acquire Kevin Durant In A Trade

Kevin Durant is once again the talk of the sports world.

After the trade talks from earlier in the offseason fizzled off, KD re-ignited the flame when it was revealed that he told Nets governor Joe Tsai that he still very much wants to be traded. The initial reports indicate that this will likely lead to a choice for Tsai: Durant or Steve Nash?

With all the buzz surrounding Kevin Durant and the Nets, bettors are openly wondering if now is the time to buy-low on the Nets next season.

Shortly after the Kevin Durant news hit the web, one reporter was claiming that just one team currently has a ‘viable’ trade package to acquire the superstar: the Boston Celtics.

Per the Athletic’s Shams Charania:

“The Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat remain the most significant candidates to acquire Durant, sources said, with Boston’s package centering around All-Star forward Jaylen Brown seen as a viable deal. Tsai and the Nets have made clear privately that they will take every last asset from a team that trades for Durant, sources said.

Durant has grown close with Boston coach Ime Udoka in recent years after Udoka spent a year with Durant as an assistant in Brooklyn and later with Team USA for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.”

The Nets will most likely drag out the trade discussions with other teams surrounding Kevin Durant. But for now, the Celtics appear to be the favorites in the clubhouse.

Not only can the Celtics give another young star in Jaylen Brown, but the plethora of young talent and draft picks should make it easier for Boston to work out a deal than other teams.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any news surrounding Kevin Durant, but early expectations are that this whole thing could drag out  a while.
