Nike Reportedly Planning On Pulling The Plug On Kyrie Irving

Since ascending to a star in the NBA, Kyrie Irving’s Nike shoes have been some of the most popular of any player. But now, that might be coming to an end.

On Friday, it was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski that Nike was planning parting ways with Kyrie after their current deal expires.

“Kyrie Irving has long had one of Nike’s most popular and profitable signature shoes, but uncertainties surrounding his NBA future leave Nike unlikely to extend him to a similar signature deal beyond next season,” Woj reports.

Nike isn’t the only important aspect of Kyrie Irving’s life that may be looking to move on.

In his end-of-the-year press conference, Nets general manager Sean Marks made some damning comments about Irving and his inability to be available for the team (for whatever reason).

“He has some decisions to make on his own. We’re looking for guys that want to be something bigger than themselves, play team basketball, and be available. That goes for Kyrie and everybody here,” Marks said.

Kyrie Irving is bound to be a major talking point all offseason long. Still, when he’s on the floor, Kyrie has proven to be one of the most dynamic players we’ve ever seen. But he seems to be throwing all that away by taking on the stigma of being ‘unreliable’.

It’ll be interesting to see where Kyrie’s career goes from here.
