Lonzo Ball Talks About What is Was Like Playing with LeBron James on Lakers

Lonzo Ball is not his father’s son.

The son of Lavar Ball, Lonzo Ball,, struggled to truly find his way during his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers. Playing alongside a star like LeBron James, Ball always had issues finding where he fit. It wasn’t surprising to see Lonzo eventually get shipped out to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the Anthony Davis trade, where he stayed for two seasons before making his way to the Chicago Bulls last season. Ball’s stint with the Lakers didn’t go as expected, as the second overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft only lasted two seasons in Los Angeles before getting dealt.

Ball spent the first half of the 2021-22 season looking as good as he’s looked in his NBA career, and it wasn’t surprising to see Chicago fall apart when he was forced to miss the second half of the season with a left knee injury. Even though Ball’s tenure with L.A. didn’t go well, Ball still appreciates the experience he got playing alongside James. When asked to reflect on playing with LeBron, Ball offered nothing but praise for one of the NBA’s all-time legends.

“You know, being a Lakers fan growing up, watching all the greats, and then being able to put that jersey on was great. [LeBron] was my favorite player growing up. Being able to share the court with him and learn from him was a time of my life I’ll never get back, I’ll never take for granted.”

Lonzo is still working his way back from his left knee issues, and it doesn’t sound like he will be ready for the start of the 2022-23 season. That’s not great news for Bulls fans, who feel pretty good about their group with a healthy Lonzo.

Hopefully, he continues to get better as the Bulls are one of the most exciting teams in the league with him on the court.
