Damian Lillard Seems Ready to be Traded by the Trailblazers

Damian Lillard is potentially wasting away his career in Portland.

But the man known as Dame Dollar is adamant that he wants to build a winning team in Portland.  It’s a song and dance that has been going on for a few years, and the trade talk always heats up before the trade deadline. Lillard is not ever going to to request a trade,  however, if the front office was to tell him they’re going to trade him, he’d be ready to pack his bags.

“Everybody is like, ‘He’s going to do this. He’s going to do that,’” Lillard said. “But the game is so watered down, and the game is so fugazi (fake) that people literally won’t believe what you say even if you say it directly to them.” Though Damian Lillard wants to stay with the Blazers, asked if he would accept a trade, he responded: “If they came to me and they wanted to trade me – I’m not going to fight them on wanting to trade me. I don’t want to be anywhere I’m not wanted. But I don’t think that’s the case.”

Lillard hasn’t played since January, as he’s recovering from adnominal surgery. Dame played a career-low 29 games this season due to the injury. Lillard will make $42 million next season as part of a $176 million extension he signed in 2019, according to Spotrac.

Win or lose on Portland, or another team, Dame has made an incredible amount of money.  If he wants to win before it’s too late, he may want to look elsewhere. The Blazers just can’t seem to figure out how to surround him with talent.

At some point this marriage will be over.
