Bennedict Mathurin Already Thinks He’s Better Than LeBron James

Indian Pacers draft pick Bennedict Mathurin already has a big head on his shoulders.

Despite never playing in an NBA game, Mathurin is already convinced that he is the very best basketball player in the entire world. So much so, that he called out LeBron James when speaking with reporters after the pick.

“A lot of people say he’s great. I want to see how great he is. I don’t think anybody is better than me. He’s going to have to show me he’s better than me,” Mathurin said of LeBron.

Obviously, confidence is good and necessary and all, but it’s hard not to see that Bennedict Mathurin is putting himself in prime position to be exposed by comparing himself to LeBron James right off the bat.

During his last season with the Arizona Wildcats, Mathurin put up 17.7 points, and was widely regarded at the Pac-12’s best player.

Sure, the Pacers should be happy with their draft selection. But for Bennedict Mathurin to call out LeBron James was very bold… to say the least.
