Dana White Isn’t Buying Jake Paul’s Reasoning For Cancelled Fight

The Jake Paul vs. Dana White beef rages on.

This week, Paul announced that his August 6th fight against Hasim Rahman Jr was cancelled because Rahman couldn’t make the agreed upon weight.

However, UFC president Dana White isn’t buying Jake Paul’s story.

After the UFC event on Saturday night, White gave his theory on why Paul really had to cancel his latest fight.

“I think they sold under a million dollars in tickets, and it costs $500,000 to turn the f****** lights on at MSG,” White said at the UFC 277 post-fight press conference. “That’s what I think.

“Not to mention hotel rooms in New York and transportation and everything else is very expensive.”

Jake Paul was scheduled to fight Tommy Fury, but after Fury dropped out, Hasim Rahman Jr was there to take on the last-minute fight.

Even though White has had a long feud with Paul, he said he found no solace in the fight being scrapped.

“I’m not going to sit up here and be happy or gloat that their fight fell out,” White said. “Both those guys I’m sure put in a lot of hard work and a lot of training to get ready for this fight, spent money to get ready for this fight.”

Still, Dana White isn’t convinced that Jake Paul or any of the people around him know what they’re doing when it comes to managing fights.

“I will say this, just because you were an accountant here doesn’t mean you know what the f*** goes on here,” said White, referencing Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian, who previously served as Chief Financial Officer at the UFC. “It doesn’t mean you can run a fight promotion company.”
