Manti Te’o Receives Standing Ovation During Return to Notre Dame For Cal Game On Saturday Afternoon

Former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o has found himself back in headlines recently after opening up about his cat fishing scandal that swept the nation during his senior season at school.

In the Netflix docuseries “Untold”, Te’o let his guard down and talked about the entire situation. And now, Te’o is in attendance at Notre Dame as his former team takes on Cal at home.

When the jumbotron showed Te’o on the sidelines at at the game, the capacity crowd at Notre Dame Stadium went absolutely wild.

Check it out:

When speaking before the game, Te’o called his decision to attend Notre Dame one of the best choices he’s made in his entire life.

“There’s two of them: One, to marry my wife because she’s the anchor in my life and she’s given me a daughter and son on the way. And the second was to come to this school.”
During his four-year career with the Fighting Irish, Manti Te’o had 437 tackles and seven interceptions as the anchor for what turned into one of the very best defenses in the nation during his time there.
Of Course, Te’o time at Notre Dame is looked at completely differently than it should be thanks to the whole girlfriend scandal that turned into a media frenzy, but it was nice to see him honored for everything he was able to accomplish on the field for the Fighting Irish.
He’s undoubtedly hoping that Notre Dame can turn around their lackluster start to the season and avoid an 0-3 record against Cal today.
