Jim Harbaugh Cites the Bible When Announcing His Plan to Use Both Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy at QB

Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh is anything but conventional, and after winning the Big Ten and qualifying for the College Football Playoff last season, he’s feeling more frisky than ever.

This year, Harbaugh is saddled with a tough decision for his quarterback room. While Cade McNamara proved to be serviceable throughout the season last year, sophomore JJ McCarthy would provide the team with a more dual-threat approach to their offense.

Even with Opening Week upon us, Harbaugh isn’t ready to name either signal-caller his QB1 just yet. So he has a plan: just play both of them.

According to the Michigan head coach, McNamara will start the first game against Colorado State, and McCarthy will handle the duties for the Week 2 game against Hawaii. After that, the coaching staff will determine who will be the starter for the remainder of the season.

While catching some flak for his peculiar way of finding his QB1, Jim Harbaugh says there’s a “biblical” reason for all of it.

“Some people have asked ‘how’d you come to that decision? Was it based on some kind of NFL model,’” he said. “No, it’s really based biblical. Solomon. He was known to be a pretty wise person.”

This offseason, Jim Harbaugh flirted with the idea of returning to the NFL ranks. But after the Vikings refused to meet his monetary demands, he decided to stay put at his alma-mater.

“In a nutshell, I love Michigan,” he explained after interviewing for the Vikings job. “I love every player. I love every family.”

Perhaps Jim Harbaugh believes there’s some unfinished business in Ann Arbor, and maybe Cade McNamara and/or JJ McCarthy will prove to be the elite QB Michigan has lacked for the past decade.
