Cale Gundy’s Daughter Accuses Brent Venables Of Covering Up The Real Reason Her Dad Resigned From Oklahoma

Oklahoma wide receivers coach Cale Gundy shocked the college football world this week when he announced he was stepping down from the university after a controversial incident during a film session.

According to Gundy, a player was writing on a tablet instead of paying attention to the meeting. So the coach decided to read what the player wrote aloud to the room.

However, a derogatory word was in part of the quote written on the tablet, and Gundy seemingly understood that he should not have repeated the term.

Today, Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables released a statement on the Cale Gundy situation.

In response to the statement, Gundy’s daughter, Cat, accused the head coach of covering up the “real” story, ordering players not to speak on what really happened during the incident in question.

“Interesting you told your players to keep their mouths shut about what really happened and their heads down,” Cat Gundy rote in a since-deleted tweet. “The truth will always come to fruition, it’s only a matter of time.”

Cale Gundy played quarterback for Oklahoma from 1990-93.

Shortly thereafter, he began his career in coaching college football. He has been with the Oklahoma program since 1999, serving as both a RB and WR coach.

Since it was announced that he was stepping away from the program, legendary Sooners coach Bob Stoops chimed in on social media.

“It’s with great sadness that I’m reading this,” Stoops said in response to Gundy’s statement. “I’ve worked along side Cale for 23 years and know him to be a man of character and a person that loves and cares for his players as well as OU. Thank you Cale for all the hard work you poured into our program, it will be remembered!”

It’ll be interesting to see if any new information about the Cale Gundy situation presents itself in the coming days…
